The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Mission Statement:
To find a cause and eventual cures for leukmia, Hodgkin's Disease, myeloma and lymphoma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

I started working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program in July of 1999. I signed up because I wanted to get in shape and help someone else at the same time. Shortly after I'd signed up I found out that a friend from work had been diagnosed with Leukemia. Lyn fought strong but in the end the disease was too much for her. Her story is amazing.(www.lyncan.com) I trained for and completed the Disney marathon in January of 2000. I went back and completed the Disney marathon in January 2001. Now I'm training for the San Diego Marathon. I do it for Lyn and for everyone out there whose life depends on a cure.

Being a part of the Team In Training orginization has meant the world to me. Last year Team In Training groups throughout the US raised over $7 million that will go toward research, patient aid, public health education, professional education, and community serivce. 88% of the funds are spent on research, patient services, and education.
